Galaxy S III available May 29

May 3, 5 3, S 3, a nice play on the date I must say. Yes, wait no more, Galaxy S3 is officially announced today.

The Galaxy S III phone packs a 1.4Ghz Exynos Quad-core, 4.8" 1280x720 HD Super AMOLED (this means PenTile, unfortunately), 2100 mAh battery, NFC, 1GB RAM, 3 different internal storage to choose from (16/32/64GB with microSD slot), 8MP camera in a 133g and 136.6x70.6x8.6mm form factor (still with a physical home button). It is available in two colours: pebble blue or marble white. For a full system specification, you can find it in GSMArena. It runs a Android 4.0 (ICS) with Touchwiz, it also features an early exclusive Flipboard App, S Beam (similar to Android Beam), S Voice (Siri alternative), Pop up Play (a pop up window playing movie), Direct call (call directly if you put S3 near your ear while viewing SMS), and many more. You can find a comparison among flagship phones through The Verge or compare generations of Galaxy phones through Engadget. S3 is not much of a upgrade if you ask me, hopefully the user experience gets better this time, and accelerates the availability of ICS in S2 for Malaysia/Singapore.

Galaxy S 3 will be available in Europe from May 29, and ready for world tour on the same day in South East Asia. (Does world tour mean product release?) In the mean time, enjoy the TV commercial and a official hand-on video.

Update2: Celcom will be launching S3 at Mid Valley Megamall, Aeon Station 18 and Sutera Mall from 31 May 10 a.m. onwards (ad). DiGi is doing the same at Low Yat Plaza, One Utama, KSL Mall, and Queensbay Mall (pre-order page). No news for Maxis though. Usually, the phone will also be available to sell at Samsung Elite Partner stores on the same day but a quick call suggest it will only be in store next week. Singapore customers can collect their pre-orders starting today (29 May) and SIII will be in stores starting from 30 May. The RRP is RM2199 and S$998 for Malaysia and Singapore, respectively. For now, only Marble White is available as Pebble Blue version is delayed.

Apple event 23 October 2012

I am not going to write much about this, this Apple event basically features a smaller variant of the iPad, iPad Mini. They come with a form factor close to 7" (7.9" to be exact), which the late Steve Jobs once called them dead on arrival . Besides the iPad Mini ( comparison ), new revision of iMac (certainly thin, and with Fusion Drive), 13" MacBook Pro (no discrete graphics though), Mac Mini , iBooks , and even a "newer" iPad (4th generation, 3rd generation no longer available ) are announced together. Glitch at Microsoft Store Singapore: $5 Office 2013 Pro

SOURCE: Hardware Zone Singapore At about 7pm today, a Hardware Zone Singapore forum poster named Bluefreak reported that Microsoft Office Professional 2013 is on sale at Singapore Microsoft Online Store for $5. Unfortunately, the relevant product page has been quickly taken down, suggesting that this is most likely a technical glitch. Nevertheless, some users manage to purchase and obtain the product keys, but it could only be activated when Office 2013 is officially released. Let us see whether Microsoft will honor the deal.
