iPhone 5, October 4.

Apple fans rejoice! Apple officially invited reporters to an iPhone-related event on October 4th, 10am Pacific Daylight Time, at its California headquarter. Let's talk iPhone 5? (Or possibly even a cheaper variant, iPhone 4S.)

Update: No iPhone 5, only iPhone 4S. Apple said that the outlook is the same as iPhone 4, with intelligent antenna. Inside, it features a A5 dual-core processor, 14.4Mbps downlink and 5.8Mbps uplink HSDPA, 8MP camera (f/2.4 and video image stabilization), human-friendly voice control. Black and white available and comes with 16/32/64GB versions, will be released on 14th first in 7 countries and coming to Singapore on 28th, and to Malaysia probably at the end of the year. In summary, basically the main camera and voice control are the key upgrades. The tech spec is up.

Update2: iFixit gives a more detailed specification of iPhone 4S, it has a dual-core 1GHz, 512MB RAM, and a about 1432mAh battery. (VIA Malaysia Wireless)

Update3: If you did not know already, Celcom, Digi and Maxis is offering iPhone 4S on 16 Dec.

Update4: iPhone 4S is available on Apple Store. 16GB: RM2199, 32GB: RM2499; 64GB: RM2799, limited to two units per customer.

As mentioned in my previous post , I discovered some problems with Foxit Reader and PDF-XChange Viewer. More precisely, Foxit Reader had been criticized heavily because it forces installation of a browser toolbar . However, this was changed in the latest version. On the other hand, the rendering in PDF-XChange is not as good as I previously thought. In summary, you can look at the table below. For the installation part, both Foxit and XChange allow users to download the complete installers, but Adobe requires users to use a web installer. During installation of Foxit and XChange, you would need to select shell extensions and PDF display in browser for maximum functionality. Apple event 23 October 2012

I am not going to write much about this, this Apple event basically features a smaller variant of the iPad, iPad Mini. They come with a form factor close to 7" (7.9" to be exact), which the late Steve Jobs once called them dead on arrival . Besides the iPad Mini ( comparison ), new revision of iMac (certainly thin, and with Fusion Drive), 13" MacBook Pro (no discrete graphics though), Mac Mini , iBooks , and even a "newer" iPad (4th generation, 3rd generation no longer available ) are announced together. Glitch at Microsoft Store Singapore: $5 Office 2013 Pro

SOURCE: Hardware Zone Singapore At about 7pm today, a Hardware Zone Singapore forum poster named Bluefreak reported that Microsoft Office Professional 2013 is on sale at Singapore Microsoft Online Store for $5. Unfortunately, the relevant product page has been quickly taken down, suggesting that this is most likely a technical glitch. Nevertheless, some users manage to purchase and obtain the product keys, but it could only be activated when Office 2013 is officially released. Let us see whether Microsoft will honor the deal.
