Google Voice not free anymore

To be exact, calls to United States and Canada placed outside these countries are not free anymore, it will be charged for $0.01 per minute. Google said they have rectified the "mistake" since they intended that only calls placed within US and Canada are free. It is a sad news for those who have friends and families in these two countries (me included) and have been enjoying free calls.

Update: The better answer came from another Google employee: the function to call from GMail was extended beyond the US. This availability is the cause of the sudden charging of calls to US and Canada.
